Dirty Dancing(1987)-The seminal coming of age tale of the 80s, Dirty Dancing remains the teen girl's favourite to this day. Patrick Swayze reminds us all of why he became famous, as a holiday camp rogue who seduces an innocent girl with his moves. The ultimate chick flick, Dirty Dancing continues to sell well today, perhaps in part due to steamy moments like the one in which Swayze first dances with Jennifer Grey.
Wild Things(1998)-Incredibly trashy, but hugely enjoyable thriller, that combines graphic violence, innovative plot twists and an inspired cast led by three of Hollywood's biggest teen idols: Matt Dillon, Neve Campbell and Denise Richards. The movie's glossy production values and high school setting might initially fool you into thinking this is no more than a feature-length 90210 episode but it's not long before Wild Things' A-list cast are steaming up the screen in a series of sex scenes that leave little to the imagination. The movie's target audience of male teens watch this movie over and over again just for the moment when Neve and Denise get it on, and then there's the famous threesome...
Bound (1996)- Before the Wachowski brothers travelled into the movie stratosphere with The Matrix, they got the chance to test their love of strong women in Bound. Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly have a steamy love affair, before attempting to rob $2m ofthe mafia's money from Joe Pantoliano. In a scene that would be a clich, if it wasn't so hot, Gershon comes round to Tilly's to do some plumbing, but ends up having sex with her.
Top Gun(1986)-An out and out 80s classic. Cruise is Lt Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell, the top-gun pilot on a testosterone high, Kelly McGillis his devastatingly beautiful flight trainer. Of course they get it together, but it's not their "soft and gentle" love-making that sets this movie on fire. Top Gun has come to be seen as a bona fide, mega-camp gay movie, a theory supported by none other than Quentin Tarantino in his film Sleep With Me. It's easy to see why. A phallic backdrop of jets and motorbikes combines with the fetishism of men in uniform and an atmosphere of bristling testosterone-fuelled competition. The scene in which an oiled up trio of Maverick, Iceman and Slider play volleyball, is regarded as one of the greatest screen representations of homo-eroticism ever. Who'd have thought it?
American Beauty is a 1999 drama film that explores themes of romantic and paternal love, freedom, sexuality, beauty, self-liberation, existentialism, the search for happiness, and family against the backdrop of modern American suburbia. The film was the screen debut for writer Alan Ball and director Sam Mendes and starred Kevin Spacey and Annette Bening; all four were nominated for Oscars. In 2000 it won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
Cruel Intentions(1999)-Hollywood's teen remake of Dangerous Liaisons had them going wild in the aisles for one particular scene involving actresses Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair. Gellar and Ryan Philippe play siblings involved in a Machiavellian game to ruin a morally uptight girl. Cruel Intentions' sexiness almost gets out of hand when the former vampire slayer teaches a young Selma Blair how to kiss.
